Itinerary

Half-Day Rock Climbing

From the city centre, it’s a 30-minute drive to the rock climbing area. The drive will take you through some of Christchurch’s most affluent suburbs, offering stunning views that stretch from the Pacific Ocean to the Southern Alps in the west. The climbing areas are located on the summit of an enormous extinct volcano that created Banks Peninsula and Lyttelton Harbour. With over 2,000 established climbing routes, Christchurch is one of the largest and most popular climbing destinations in New Zealand.

From the car park, it’s only a short walk to the crag (climbing area). Your guide will set up the ropes and provide a safety briefing, as well as belay lessons, before you embark on your first climb. Once you feel confident with the climbing systems, your guide will assist you in improving your climbing skills. Throughout the day, your guide will continue to set up climbs that are challenging, achievable, and safe for the group. We’ll have afternoon tea at the crag, enjoying views overlooking Christchurch City or Lyttelton Harbour.
