Shore Excursion Itinerary
Getting There – A Scenic Drive
We start our guided half-day walk in Lyttelton, known as “The Gateway to Christchurch”. This charming and historic port township is the largest port on the South Island. From Lyttelton, we drive up the newly restored Evans Pass road to a scenic lookout that gives impressive views of Lyttelton Harbour and the coastal suburb of Sumner. From here, a picturesque drive along Summit Road brings us to the Godley Head car park, where our walk begins.
Walking Tour – Godley Head / Awaroa
We head east on a well-formed track that loops around the coastal headland. Along the way, we stop to explore World War II remnants, including the Godley Head gun battery, where we pause for morning or afternoon tea. We also visit the historic Scott’s Cabin before returning to the car park. This walk offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into history.

What time does the 1/2-Day Godley Head shore excursion start?
We offer this shore excursion twice daily, departing at either 8:30 am or 1:00 pm. Or at a time that fits with your cruise ship schedule.
What time does the Godley Head shore excursion end?
We aim to be back in Lyttelton or the city centre at 12:00 pm or 4:30 pm (depending on which session you book) or before your ship’s departure.
Can this tour fit my cruise ship schedule?
Yes. Our tour schedules are flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate the cruise ship’s sail times. If, for any reason, you’re not back on your ship before it departs, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered and we will make sure you reach the ship’s next port of call.
Is lunch included?
Lunch is not provided on the half-day walking tour; however, we will provide morning or afternoon tea as well as hot and cold drinks.
